Title: Marketing and Communications Specialist
Reports to: Marketing Director
Classification: This is a full-time, non-exempt (hourly) position.

Pay Range: $23 – $26/Hour to start, based on experience
Location: On site at the Cygnet Theatre administrative offices adjacent to Old Town, San Diego with some flexibility for occasional remote work.

JOB SUMMARY:
The Marketing and Communications Specialist is a vital member of the Cygnet Theatre Team. Under the guidance of the Marketing Director, the Marketing and Communications Specialist manages the strategy, planning, implementation, and monitoring of Cygnet Theatre’s social media and digital marketing initiatives that sustain existing and grow new audiences. The position also provides direct support to the Marketing Director, including collaboration on overall marketing and communication strategy.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

Social Media and Digital Content

  • Working with the Marketing Director, develop and deliver Cygnet Theatre’s social media and content strategy.
  • Create and maintain content and social media calendar.
  • Generate, produce and manage social media and promotional content including video, photo and written content.
  • Work across departments to seek out content sharing opportunities to build audiences and increase engagement.
  • Organize and conduct interviews with artistic and creative teams.
  • Attend shows and events both on and off-site as needed to capture content.
  • Maintain a consistent brand voice and identity, adjusting the tone as appropriate for different channels.
  • Monitor activity, respond to posts, and interact with followers
  • Assist with content management of Cygnet Theatre’s website, making basic updates as necessary or requesting changes as needed.
  • Manage the execution of cross-promotional partnerships with other arts and community organizations which primarily includes social media, digital and mail list trades.

Analytics and Reporting

  • Develop skills in Theatre Manager (Patron-based CRM) to a high level to aid in marketing functions such as list pulls and sales reporting.
  • Monitor and report on digital and social media performance.

Communications

  • Work closely with Marketing team to develop and implement media campaigns for the organization and specific shows.
  • Shape public perception and increase visibility and awareness of Cygnet Theatre and all of its programs through development, execution, and refinement of brand identity.
  • Develop key institutional messaging in collaboration with the leadership team.
  • Write, create, curate, and copy-edit all external communications including a weekly eblast.

General

  • Keep up to date with industry trends, best practices, innovation and benchmarks.
  • Assist with the coordination of community outreach events.
  • Assist with ordering promotional items.
  • Other administrative marketing and communication duties as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS NEEDED:

  • Associates Degree in Marketing or Arts Administration preferred.
  • Proficient in Excel, Word, Power Point
  • Attention to detail, Proof-reading, copy-editing skills
  • Ability to work on multiple projects at a time with good time management skills in order to meet deadlines
  • Ability to take a positive team approach to working with coworkers
  • Proficiency with basic design and video applications/software such as Canva/iMovie
